My husband and I were cleaning our circular garden room, which I call my pod, which has a seat around the inner edge with a table in the middle.
I had removed the metal-rimmed seats to clean the interior, but when I couldn't reach the other side of the pod because of the table, I replaced one of the seats and was using it by shuffling it around while sitting on it.
Unfortunately, while doing this I caught my fingers between the metal base and the rigid seat cushion, while sitting down heavily on the cushion. The pain was excruciating!
However, my immediate declaration was that 'there is no sensation in matter', a line from Science and Health p.237. I felt quite sick from the pain and had to lay my head on the table.
I was then reminded of a recent testimony of a lady who had developed a painful ear ache while descending in a plane and how she had turned to the scientific statement of being, which reads: Question: What is the scientific statement of being? Answer: There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual. (S&H p468).
I did the same, and within a few moments the pain had completely disappeared. Meanwhile my husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, had become very concerned as I hadn't responded to him, asked if he should call a doctor or, remembering that I had told him that should I ever need help, to call a Christian Science Practitioner.
I was able to say there was no need as I was fine. He said later "why didn't you cry out and say that you were hurt", but I hadn't wanted any negative thought to creep in, and I believe that is why I had such a quick healing. I'm so grateful for having learnt the Truths about my spiritual self, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs Eddy who gave us the understanding of this Christ Science.
