Rudimental Divine Science, page 9:22. "The spiritual power of a scientific, right thought, without a direct effort, an audible or even a mental argument, has oftentimes healed inveterate diseases."
Science & Health page 120:15. "Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind; nor can the material senses bear reliable testimony on the subject of health."
In Christian Science we learn that God is Mind, Spirit, Soul, omnipresent and so always with His creation. Man, as His very expression and likeness, includes health, wholeness, soundness, and peace. He is unafraid. Christ Jesus proved this in his life by healing all types of disease quickly and easily, without need for gradual recovery, and many rejoiced in this evidence of God's power and goodness and love for man.
In the Old Testament we read about the Israelites being saved from the plagues, and the Psalms are full of assurances of God's tender care for His creation. Psalm 91 is both comforting and strengthening, promising that "He shall cover thee with His feathers and under His wings shall thou trust.... thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flight by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday... Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling... With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation."
