The Wednesday Testimony Meeting:
Every week we hold a meeting at 8pm in the church building which begins with a selection of citations from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, on a topic chosen by the First Reader. The second part of the meeting is open to Christian Scientists to share accounts of healings of every sort, which have resulted from their study and practice of this science. A couple of verses from Psalm 75 describe the fundamental purpose of these meetings: "All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;"
The Sunday Service:
For the benefit of those who are less familiar with our services it might be helpful to explain that our Bible Lessons are based on 26 subjects, which cover the basic teachings of Christian Science. This subject of this week's Lesson Sermon is 'God the Preserver of Man.
Two citations from the lesson give a flavour of what is to be found in it; "How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings." (Psalm 36 - from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation). "God, the divine Principle of man, and Man in God;s likeness are inseparable, harmonious, and eternal.) (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p336).
The lesson then goes on to explain how this can be understood and demonstrated.
You are very welcome to join us online on Sunday morning at 10.30 when the whole lesson will be read as the sermon. Join us either at the church or on line through the Zoom system.
