Thailand Cave Rescue

From Jill

"In consciousness at one with God
we find this holy place,
a place where we’re not limited
by person, time, or space.

This secret place of oneness,
unknown to mortal thought,
is seen and felt in Spirit,
as the kingdom Jesus taught.

Our refuge and our fortress,
with safety guaranteed,
our trust in the Almighty
supplies our every need.

This place is our true dwelling
where we live and move and breathe;
a place of peace and harmony,
a place we never leave.

This secret place is here and now
beneath, around, above;
His tender presence everywhere—
an all-inclusive Love."

From Monique

"In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mrs Eddy writes on page 454:18, ' Love inspires, illumines, designates and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought and strength and freedom to speech and action. '

Reading the news, there are many looking for inspiration about how to get the boys and their coach safely out of the cave. Yet, no straightforward answer has appeared yet and this has encouraged me to pray with these sentences and strongly claim that it is Love, God who is inspiring the volunteers. As well,  when something is illuminated one can't miss it, and we can be confident that a safe way will become very apparent. Continuing with Mrs Eddy's statement, we can know too that the way out will be designated and that everyone involved will be led each step of the way.

The sentence that ' right motives give pinions to thought and strength and freedom to speech and action' is such an all encompassing prayer. The motives of all are clearly right and this sentence acknowledges how strength, communication and  all actions proceed from God who is infinite Life. This lifts off any limitations such as time, energy levels or the amount of water in the cave.

We can be confident that Love, God is right there with each person and that everyone can feel this love, comfort and guidance."

From Patsy

Psalm 139:

"Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning , and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me."

From Cathy:

"When praying about the trapped boys in Thailand, I have found the article GOD'S LAW OF ADJUSTMENT, by Adam Dickey, extremely helpful, and if I may, I'd like to share a few excerpts from this article, which others might find comforting and uplifting at this time:

"There is a law of God that is applicable to every conceivable phase of human experience, and no situation or condition can possibly exist outside of the direct influence of this infinite law.  The effect of the operation of law is always to correct and govern, to harmonise and adjust.  Whatever is out of order or discordant can have no basic Principle of its own, but must come under the direct government of God through what may be termed God's law of adjustment..."

"If a man were drowning in mid-ocean with apparently no human help at hand, there is a law of God which, when rightly appealed to, would bring about his rescue.  Does the reader doubt this?  Then he must believe that it is possible for man to find himself in a condition where God cannot help him.  If one were in a burning building or a railway accident, or if he were in a den of lions, there is a law of God which could at once adjust the apparent material circumstances so as to bring about his complete deliverance..."

"When we understand that infinite Mind is the Ruler of the universe, that every idea of God is forever in its proper place, that no condition or circumstance can arise whereby a mistake can find lodgement in God's plan, then we have the complete assurance that God is capable of adjusting everything as it should be..."

"It makes no difference how much is at stake or what is involved, if we succeed in getting ourselves out of the way, we can then be satisfied with the words of the prophet:  "The battle is not yours, but God's...Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord..." "

From Steve:

"I’ve been thinking about the boys in Thailand trapped in the cave and realised that today is July 4th, a celebration of freedom and independence for many of us. I affirmed that just as we haven’t lost our freedom and independence, they haven’t lost theirs either. I declared that Mind, one of the most powerful synonyms for God in all of Christian Science, is all that’s operating over there in Thailand. There is obviously considerable debate as to how to extricate the boys from the cave. I’m holding onto the truth that Mind is all powerful in this situation and will determine the best and safest way of freeing them."

From Jillie:

"Six words from a verse in 1 Corinthians (10:13) came immediately to thought when I heard of the Thai boys trapped in the cave. Those words are: “ALSO MAKE A WAY TO ESCAPE”

The verse reads “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Praying through this verse I saw that because God is all, the temptation to doubt whether the rescue plans will work has no place or power. God’s plan is clear, safe, secure, protected.

Just as the water receded as the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea to safety, the same God-power is every bit as present as it was then".

From Phyllis:

"... the following passage from Miscellany, p.149:31-  came to me and seems to correlate to Ps.139:  “Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee.”     In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,  Mrs. Eddy quotes “Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity” which I found very helpful to lean on when as a child I found myself on some rocks and cut off by the tide.  Leaning on this statement  - that it was God’s opportunity - gave me the needed courage to do what was necessary despite my fear and all was safely resolved.    It was a far less daunting experience, but nonetheless the boys are being given expert help and guidance by those with experience and they can find the faith and courage to follow needed steps at the right time."

From Valerie:

Today’s Daily Lift seems right on the ball, especially the quote from Science & Health with Key to the Scriptures, ‘ The ‘’still, small voice’’ of scientific thought reaches over continent and ocean to the globe’s remotest bound. The inaudible voice of Truth is, to the human mind, ‘’as when a lion roareth.’’ It is heard in the desert and dark places of fear. ‘ p 559.
