Our prayers for Cape Town

"Recently this comforting message was in thought, “ My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass” (Deut.32:2) .       I was not aware of the South African drought when this passage came to thought but it was very clear so I dwelt for a while on the many remarkable instances recorded in the Bible not only of God’s guidance being received but also of needed water being supplied by our divine Father-Mother, Love.

Last night I prayed to understand more deeply the ever-presence of God’s infinitude and what this must imply.   I took each synonym for God in turn.   For example, right now the ever-presence of Life means the 'no-presence' of limited life, disease, or death.   The infinitude of Soul includes the spiritual awareness of Soul’s provision of its unlimited resources, and these could never be depleted because their source is Spirit.    The ever-presence of God as infinite Principle, the only Cause, means there is no other cause that could interrupt divine harmony and order.    The effect of divine Love must always be full blessing and be for all.

Today’s Daily Lift from Chet Manchester, about the woman who might be regarded as an outcast begging Jesus for help and receiving healing for her daughter, has opened up another line of thought, showing that all may partake of truth "from the open fount” and be blessed, irrespective of human circumstance or background.       This remarkable Lesson also includes the strengthening and very timely account of the daughters of Zelophedad who were recognised and treated equally with regard to their rightful inheritance, instead of being disadvantaged because they were daughters rather than sons.   Both these wonderful instances remind me of the passage in Science and Health (page 494:10-14) ,  “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need.   It is not well to imagine that Jesus demonstrated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good.”

How grateful I am for these inspiring and practical proofs shared in our weekly Lesson and so relevant for praying about today’s challenges. "
